Installing the WordPress plugin

Updated June 26, 2026 60 views 0 found this helpful

The PowerSEC plugin is the agent that connects your WordPress site to PowerSEC Central. You install it like any other WP plugin.

Method 1 — From the WordPress admin

  1. Go to Plugins → Add New in your WP admin
  2. Search for PowerSEC
  3. Click Install Now, then Activate
  4. After activation, a banner will appear inviting you to connect to Central

Method 2 — Manual upload

If your site doesn't allow plugin marketplace browsing:

  1. Download the latest plugin ZIP from powersec.io/download
  2. Go to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin
  3. Choose the ZIP file → Install NowActivate

Method 3 — WP-CLI

For server-side or bulk installs:

wp plugin install powersec --activate

Verify the install

After activation, you should see a PowerSEC menu item in the WP admin sidebar. Click it to start the connection flow.

Note: PowerSEC requires PHP 7.4 or later and WordPress 5.5 or later.

Troubleshooting

  • Plugin not showing up after upload — check that the ZIP wasn't double-zipped by your browser
  • Activation error — see Plugin installation troubleshooting
  • Menu doesn't appear — hard-refresh your browser (Ctrl+Shift+R)
